On April 12th we welcome Cardiff's Hang Fire Smokehouse to Llanarthne. In recent years, we've seen an influx of places claiming to make true American barbecue, but that in reality bear little comparison to the subtleties and skill of the best proponents of 'cue in the states. Most simply just haven't done their research. Shauna & Sam who run Hang Fire, definitely have - travelling extensively through the Southern part of the United States, researching barbecue traditions from the Carolinas to St Louis to Texas. They are modest and reverential towards the people who do this so well out there and that comes through in their food, deep in flavour and most importantly - delicious.

We also welcome Ali from Seren Brewery, one of the most exciting new breweries in the UK, let alone Wales. Working from his tiny nano-brewery in his house in Pembrokeshire, he uses his extensive brewing knowledge (he home-brewed for years) into brewing balanced, bold beers that have been going down a storm here. All this on top of a job as a professor at Aberystwyth University. We'll have three of his beers on tap, plus some bottles from him and a bunch of other breweries we like.

This will be an even less informal affair than usual so expect the music to be loud and to eat with your hands, this is barbecue after all.
