Wright's in Castle Arcade (on the balcony above Barker's) is now open 6 days a week.
Wright’s is a retail wine shop and a tiny wine bar. “Possibly the cutest wine bar in the UK” Itamar Srulovitch in the Financial Times
We serve wine by the glass and the bottle and a very small range of simple plates of food to eat with it including the rarebit sandwich from Wright's in Llanarthne. (The kitchen was formerly a cupboard). The menu will look something like this;
Bread and oil £2.50 Olives £2 Valencian Almonds £2 Fava beans £1 Anchovies £5 Piquillo peppers £4 Coppa and piccalilli £5 Brefu Bach and honey £5/£9.50 Rarebit and leek sandwich £7 (+nduja £9)
Rarebit and a glass of wine £10 (+nduja £12)
From Tuesday 27th November Wright’s Wines will be extending our opening hours, we will also be opening later through December as the Arcades open later.
Monday - Closed
Tuesday - 12-6
Wednesday - 12-6
Thursday - 12-9
Friday - 12-9
Saturday - 12-6 (extending til 7 on Dec 1st, 8 on Dec 8th and 9 on the last 2 Saturdays before Christmas)
Sunday - 12- 5, every Sunday is Shelf price Sunday where any bottle is available to drink in at shelf price with no corkage for drinking in. In some cases this means a saving of more than 1/3.
For December we have a string of free entry events taking advantage of extended opening hours in Cardiff.
Dec 7th- Friday night 5.30 onwards Natural Cider tasting with Skyborry Ciderfrom Powys
Dec 14th- Fri night 5.30 onwards - Wright’s exclusive tasting the new release of wines from Julien Pineau & Laurent Saillard.
Dec 15th– from midday - The Big Christmas tasting- Taste our recommended wines for the festive period, and order or take home what you'd like, with 10% off 6 bottles or more.
Dec 22nd- 5.30 last Saturday before Christmas –Opening rarities and special bottlesto celebrate!
Dec 24th- open at 9am serving fizz and Wright’s mince pies.
Closed Dec 25th - 27th inclusive. Open as normal Fri 28th/Sat 29th/Sunday 30th closed NY Eve and NY Day.
